TENNIS

Maryland is one of four districts comprising the Mid-Atlantic Section of the United States Tennis Association. With over 15,000 members in Maryland, the Maryland District administers tournaments, selects an honorary All-State High School Team and a junior Team Maryland, supports USA League Tennis, and provides financial support to local tennis organizations.

Since 1986, Baltimore has hosted Pam Shriver's Charity Tennis Challenge. Annually scheduled at 1st Mariner Arena sometime between September and December, the Challenge raises funds for local children's charities. Enthusiastic, standing-room-only crowds turn out to watch the best tennis players in the world.
